High-end, low-maintenance hairstyles like honey blonde and pricey brunette, as well as an abundance of red and copper, have been popular in the previous year. What can we expect more of for the rest of 2025? Hair color “will be low-maintenance and natural with a play on variations of ‘color within the color,’” says Diana Mildice, a colorist at Chicago’s Maxine Salon. “This means we will see more dimensional blondes, reds, and brunettes that have unique visual movement created by layering various colors within.”

Buttery Blonde
For 2025, lived-in, soft, buttery blonde hair is the ideal low-maintenance style. This shade is the newest blonde fad in town, having evolved from platinum blonde, which was bright and strong. According to DeLaTorre, “people think they can’t be that bright, beautiful blonde anymore when they hear ‘lived-in,’ but in reality, it’s all about the placement of the blonde.” “You can now go longer between appointments by keeping it off the roots and blended, which will help keep that look bright and refreshed.” Additionally, coloring the money piece “will help make your face pop with slightly bolder color around the face,” according to her.
Mocha Mousse
Try dying your hair the year’s Pantone color to have some fun with brunette colors. “Those with naturally dark hair who wish to add dimension to their hair also like mocha shades,” DeLaTorre explains. “It’s the ideal tone to maintain the rich brunette look while also helping it look natural and sun-kissed.” It sounds like a summertime fantasy!

Blended Honey
According to celebrity hairstylist Rossano Ferretti, one may expect to see a lot of warm, comfortable, and honey blondes. “Bronze honey balayage adds warmth and richness to the color scheme, blending caramel and golden tones to create a sun-kissed effect,” Ferretti says. “Bronze honey balayage is a flexible option for both lighter and darker bases because it is perfect for adding brightness and depth without harsh contrasts.” It’s no surprise that it’s popular!
Cowboy Copper
According to Michelle Cleveland, a celebrity hairstylist, extensions artist, instructor, and owner of Hair Addict Salon & Extension Bar, “warm tones in hair color will be all the rage in 2025, and cowboy copper is one of my all-time favorite warm hair color trends.”
“This color really works wonders for brightening most complexions because it combines the warmth of a soft chestnut brown with the vibrancy of a dose of copper,” she adds. “If you’re considering experimenting with this color, speak with your colorist and let them help you decide whether warm tones will complement your skin tone and eye color the best, as these factors all affect the final appearance.”
Brunette Balayage
As Jennifer Korab, a celebrity hairstylist and the CEO of Renaissance Salon & Spa, tells Glamour, “Winter 2025 is the perfect season to embrace deeper, warm, richer tones, and smoky brunette balayage offers the perfect balance of depth and dimension.”
“This color trend feels effortlessly modern and versatile, inspired by celebrities like Lily Collins and Camila Morrone,” she adds. With soft, diffused highlights, it’s a sensible option for anyone who want a low-maintenance style that nevertheless makes an impact. For brunettes or anyone going from lighter tones who wants to get darker without sacrificing visual interest, this hue is ideal.
Praline Brown
According to Mildice, Eva Mendes’s famous praline brown hue has a very significant impact. She explains that “praline brown is a warm combination of pearlescent browns and glowing golds that is achieved by placing very fine pieces of light gold and wider pieces of rich hazel brown throughout the hair.” “The bolder hazel brown defines the highlights with stronger ribbons, while babylights are a more delicate and finer thread, easing harsh grow-out.”
The best part, though? It requires very little upkeep. “It’s a fantastic choice for brunettes who wish to maintain some radiance in the dead of winter,” she explains.
Modern Blonde
According to Ferretti, “although platinum is a timeless statement, we’re seeing a shift toward a more refined, vintage-inspired version of the shade for 2025.” We certainly are: Think about all the recent bobs and matching hues that have been influenced by Old Hollywood.
“Vintage platinum moves away from icy or ashy finishes and tempers the boldness of platinum blonde with pearly, creamy undertones.” Ferretti continues. “It’s about finding that perfect balance between bold and delicate.”
Cherry Red
Stephanie Angelone, a professional hairdresser at RPZL Hair Extension & Blowout Bar in New York, says that the new year will bring a lot of reds, particularly the stunning chocolate cherry.
Red complements all skin tones and is a very universal color. Over the past few years, a lot of celebrities, including Megan Fox and Kendall Jenner, have colored their hair red, she says. “Try the Jackie O Red 30 inch clip-ins from RPZL if you’re searching for the ideal shade of red extensions.”
Lacquer Black
Another trend to keep an eye on, according to Mildice, is lacquer black. “With her recent tour, new music release, and this year’s iconic VMA Vanguard Award, Katy Perry is contributing to the trend of this high-reflect color.”
She goes on to say that’s because lacquer black has a lot of depth and shine. “This allover color has a high sheen and is the ideal option for brunettes who want to go above and beyond this winter,” she adds. “This color is obtained by requesting a mirror gloss and a semipermanent color.”

AuBurnt Sienna
“Auburn, but more talented? Auburnt sienna’s diverse blend of our faves is glistening into winter! “From within this rich auburn base, the movement of terra-cotta copper, glitzy gold, and chili red appears lit,” Mildice adds. “There is a hint of extra sparkle from the golden micro-lights scattered throughout.”
Additionally, she notes that there are numerous auburnt sienna varieties that compliment the majority of skin tones and may be customized for each person.
Palomino Blonde
“A creamy pale blonde, deep topaz highlights arranged in ribbons throughout the hair, and a gentle swish of deep yet vibrant gold make up a Palomino blonde,” Mildice explains. Request that these hues be applied to the head in a paneled design using the foilage or balayage techniques. This is popular because it lets you maintain both brightness and depth while getting back to your glistening blonde look in the winter.
Warm Chestnut
Cleveland credits celebrities like Chrissy Tiegen for maintaining the trend, even though lower conditions are the main source of inspiration for warm color schemes. She remarks, “She wears her warm-toned chestnut so beautifully.”
“Ask your stylist for product recommendations that will help prolong and preserve the life of your color if this trend appeals to you,” she adds. “Wella Color Motion+ and Sebastian Trilliant Thermal Heat Protection Spray are two of my favorite color-protecting hair care brands. They shield hair from heat damage and stop color fading caused by environmental free radicals.”
Off-Black Espresso
Ferretti advises trying off-black espresso if pure black is too strong. According to Ferretti, “off-black hues, such as deep espresso or dark chocolate, offer a softer alternative to true black.” Many people find it simpler to wear these off-black hues because they are less striking while still retaining the depth and richness of black hair. The end effect is a rich, velvety tone that is slightly softer and more dimensional, yet still stunning.
Winter Frost
“Bleed and tones never go away, even though many people love to go darker in the winter,” explains Lauren Mildice, a colorist specialist at Maxine Salon. The waves in this color mimic a melting icicle, and it captures light and snow with a hint of lavender wash. Winter frost offers just enough pigment to keep you guessing, even though platinum blondes typically appear colorless or empty. An ideal illustration of the shade? The ice blonde of Beyoncé.
Bronde Blends
According to Perkins, bronde blends will be among the most popular hair color trends in the upcoming year. According to her, “these shades fall somewhere between light brunettes and blondes that look flawlessly highlighted and don’t go all the way to white-bright blonde tones.” Consider Selena Gomez’s recent appearance.
And why are they popular? According to Perkins, “these shades look more natural and softer than what we’ve been seeing in heavily highlighted and platinum looks with darker roots over the past couple of years.” “The blend is smoother.” This style may be achieved whether you start with blonde or highlighted hair by using Madison Reed Color Therapy Mask in Perla or Color Reviving Gloss in Crema to perfect your tone.
Vintage Brown
According to Lauren Mildice, 2025 brunches will be nostalgic, which means unplanned and organic. According to her, “we stay true to the brunette world with color that appears organic by placing subtle ribbons of walnut and nutmeg underneath and through the length.”
Cherry Cola
Cherry cola, which is an almost-blue take on the red trend, is deeper and darker than what we’ve been seeing for a lot of 2025. “This shade is more of a violet-infused red that has blue undertones, and a bit more dramatic and less natural than what we’ve seen lately trending in reds,” says Perkins.
Blurred Roots
The trend that will continue to dominate highlighting in 2025 is low-contrast grow-out,” Perkins continues. “While the money piece and chunky ’90s highlights made an appearance last year, the general aesthetic will remain a soft, blurred grow-out line that stays away from visible stripey grow-out.
Luminous Blonde
Diana Mildice points to “high lumen” blonde as another ideal color for anyone considering blonde. “This luminescent blonde is created by blending multiple tones of metallic gold and platinum throughout the hair, allowing one tone to define the other by creating a backdrop for the lightest tone to shine through,” she says. “When we outline our lightest blondes with a warm topaz tone, we create a natural balance.
